It was the spring of my twenty-fifth year when I embarked on a new career in retail.
Though I had never worked in sales before, I didn’t mind talking to people. More than anything, the thought of being surrounded by beautiful clothes thrilled me. Naturally, I assumed I would be assigned to the women’s clothing department.
But human resources had a different plan.“With your style and presence, we think you’d be a great fit for the men’s luxury clothing section.”
And just like that, I found myself placed in the high-end men’s fashion department.
I was surprised. I had never worn a suit myself, nor did I even know how to tie a necktie. But there was no point in resisting—I had no choice but to adapt.

A few days passed after my first shift, and I was gradually getting used to the rhythm of the store.
That day, I was standing near the entrance with my male supervisor.
The wave of customers had momentarily subsided, and just as I was about to take a breath—
“Who is this person?!”
A commanding voice rang out from behind me.
Startled, I turned around.
Two men were standing there.
One was an older gentleman with a well-built physique, dressed in a perfectly tailored suit. His posture radiated confidence—the kind that only comes from years of experience and authority. Beside him stood a sharp-eyed man in his fifties, his glasses lending him an intellectual, slightly stern air.
They were unlike any customers I had ever encountered.
“Oh, A-san, this is our newest team member,” my supervisor quickly introduced me.
It seemed they were regulars.
The older gentleman, whom my supervisor had addressed as A-san, gazed at me for a moment before speaking.
“If you ever need anything, just let me know.”
It was a simple sentence.
But at that moment, something coursed through me—like an electric current running through my entire body.
A tingling, almost overwhelming surge of energy. Yet, strangely, it wasn’t unpleasant.
It felt familiar.
As if I had known this moment before.
I couldn’t explain it, but somehow, I knew—this was the moment that would change everything.
